MEGANTARA

MEGANTARA, that sound like something that have some connection with some-sort-of ancient gods, yes ? That’s partly correct ! The festival name was taken from the sanskrit word “Mega” that means great and the word “Gantari” that means light that shines. If the two word was combined then the meaning would more or less be “Nusantara is a great light”(Even i’m not sure where is the nusantara part came from LOL).

The purpose of this kind of festival is to show the traditional culture of the “Nusantara” or Indonesia to the public. This kind of art festival is held annually in my school and last year the name that  got chosen was Gamarvani.

There are many performance from all kinds of traditional shows that comes from around Indonesia. There are, for example Rampak Kendang DH, OSD ITB, and Band3. There are also many indie band from Bandung that pass the audition to shows their musical skills on the stage of Megantara. There is also performance from T’ST 3 and KPA 3. And last but not least, there is RAN and The Changcuters, which is a pretty famous here in Indonesia and Bandung especially for teenagers like us.

Other than art festival, megantara also held an amazing food festival that serves many kinds of traditional food and modern food from many provinces in Indonesia. One of the food that they serve was “Baso tahu” or pretty much dimsum that is put ontop of a tofu and steamed. The example of modern food is Okonomiyaki or Japanese savoury pancakes.

All in all, Megantara is an awesome and interesting festival and i will surely come to next year art festival.
